Travel Back In Time- Advice to Your Younger Self
If you could travel back in time and give your younger self some life-changing advice, what age would you pick and what would you say?
Would you change careers, college majors, or perhaps even significant others?
Do you tell yourself to work harder or to stop and smell the roses?
Dear 15 year old me,
I am writing this from twenty years in the future to talk to you, warn you about mistakes that have happened to me and that will happen to you in the future if you aren’t forewarned.
I hope you will pay attention to what I say, I’m not trying to be bossy or interfere I’m just trying to stop you from making some of the bad decisions I made.
Please try harder at school, I know being friendless is upsetting and soul destroying and yes I remember that awful, horrible teacher who instead of helping you bullied you and made life even worse.
Don’t let her win and don’t give up because if you can carry on getting those A’s and B’s for your work then you will have won and will be able to prove to them all that you aren’t a nothing, a nobody to be ignored but a force to be reckoned with. You never know you could even end up being the boss to some of them.
Don’t spend as much money as you do on all those magazines and music, try to save some and put it into a savings account. There will be a time, not too far in the future when you will desperately need some finances behind you. I know this sounds boring and you can always ask your dad but please just forget about getting financial help from others even family and save what you can. You will need it for general living expenses maybe even a car.
Also, you will have a few boyfriends some of whom you will be with for a long time. Enjoy these relationships but please when and if they go wrong, please remember it isn’t the end of the world, you won’t be alone forever, destined to be “on the shelf” like a spinster. You will find the right person for you and that person will never cause you to doubt him, he will support you and look after you and you will be happy with him.
Lastly in a couple of years time the hospital will tell you that you’re never going to have children. This will be the end of the world and life will not feel like it’s worth living. You will want to punish everyone because of this and hate everything and everyone, but, and this is important, the hospital will be wrong. You will have a child eventually, it will happen when you least expect and even though it will be difficult at times you will be a mum, with a husband and life will be good even if it does have it’s up’s and down’s.
This is all I want to forewarn you of, I don’t want you to miss out on certain relationships or experiences because it will help to make you the person you end up being. I just want to warn you about some of the mistakes I made that I regret and if I can stop you from making the same mistakes then your life will be better, happier, more successful than mine currently is.
YOU can do ANYTHING you set your mind to.
I’m PROUD of YOU.

That was cool!
It immediately made me think of the movie Back to the Future when Marty tries to give "Doc" of 1955 a letter that "Doc" in 1985 wrote warning him of future events and the Doc refused to take the letter because he didn't believe in altering time.
Sometimes (obviously) I too wish I had a time machine to go back and warn myself of events to come in the future. Ironically, I would also visit the 15 year old me.
